The joy of harvest season
Wow, what a few weeks it's been in my garden! The sheer abundance of fresh, vibrant vegetables has left me both excited and grateful. Every trip to the garden feels like an adventure, uncovering nature’s hidden treasures. Let me share the highlights of this season’s bountiful harvest with you!
Current harvest
- Carrots
The carrots are fantastic this year! Bright orange and wonderfully crunchy, they're perfect for everything—from salads to snacks. There's nothing quite like pulling a fresh carrot from the ground and tasting its sweet, earthy flavor.
- Cucumbers
Cucumbers are everywhere, and I couldn’t be happier! Crisp and refreshing, they're ideal for pickling, salads, or just munching on straight from the vine. They truly embody the essence of summer.
- Zucchini and squash
Zucchinis and squash are thriving like never before. My baskets are overflowing with these versatile veggies. They’re great for stir-fries, soups, and even baking. Their mild flavor and tender flesh are household favorites.
- Lettuce
Lettuce has been amazing this season. Its crisp, leafy goodness is perfect for refreshing summer salads. The variety in textures and flavors—from buttery soft to slightly bitter—adds a delightful twist to our meals.

- Aubergine (Eggplant)
The first aubergines are on their way, and I can’t wait! Their glossy purple skins promise rich, creamy interiors perfect for dishes like baba ganoush and eggplant parmesan.
- Green tomatoes
Green tomatoes are steadily growing, hinting at the juicy, ripe tomatoes soon to come. I love frying them or making pasta sauce.
- Flowering green beans
Green beans are starting to flower, promising a fresh crop soon. Their tender pods will be perfect for steaming, stir-frying, or even enjoying raw. I'm so excited!
- Pumpkins
Pumpkins are slowly taking shape. Their vines are spreading, and the fruits are beginning to swell. These future pumpkins will be perfect for pies, soups, and festive autumn decorations.
